Two women marked her destiny in the fashion world. The first was her grandmother, who used to buy her Lanvin or Dior dresses since she was a little girl and took her to a Balenciaga fashion show when she was only 13 years old. The second woman was her friend Diana Vreeland, the legendary Vogue editor, who encouraged her to design her own clothing line. Carolina accepted the challenge and in 1981 she presented her first collection at Manhattan's Metropolitan Club. The success was immediate and prominent personalities on the international scene began to request her creations, including all the first ladies of the US.

In 1988 the Venezuelan designer presented her first perfume: Carolina Herrera. The first fragrance for men was launched in 1991 and in 1999, the iconic collection 212, alluding to the telephone code of The Big Apple, an absolute symbol of exclusivity and success. From her flagship boutique between Madison Avenue and 75th Street, in the historic four-story building, her brand, created by and for women, celebrates beauty and reigns in the city that has always inspired her.
