When in 1958 the young designer Jean Bousquet left his hometown of Nîmes to move to Paris and start a small clothing business, he did not imagine the success that his prêt-à-porter store would have. In 1963, a photo of a summery pink seersucker blouse was on the cover of Elle magazine, launching Cacharel onto the international fashion scene. Since then, Cacharel would set the romantic trend of the 60s and 70s. That blouse, renamed by the press as “Le Cacharel”, would become the brand's iconic piece. In 1969, Jean decided to diversify his brand and Anaïs Anaïs was born, the first luxury perfume created for young girls, which even today remains Cacharel's main best seller, with another classic arriving later: Amor Amor fragrance.
